I may be Asian, but I suck at math.

Chell would be approx 17 years old if she was indeed born in 1983.  A little old for Bring Your Daughter to Work day. Of course, if we are going to explore ALL OPTIONS, we can get RIDICULOUS.

• Caroline froze Cave Johnson’s sperm and had IVF.
• After birthing Chell, Cave and Caroline decided to use her FOR SCIENCE and cryostasis her.
• They decided to cryostasis her right before she hit her teenage years to avoid dealing with drama.
• And then they wanted her to participate in BYDtW day so they unfroze her in order to show how awesome her genetics are.

Like I said, RIDICULOUS.  But keep in mind, Cave Johnson went batshit crazy and Caroline got turned into a computer.  And that we are in the Half Life universe with portal guns, head crabs, zero point energy field manipulators, and crowbars.  Anything is possible. Right?

Pilfered from the Steam Powered forums.  Seems pretty solid.  Chell very well could be their child.  Or, she could have been adopted sometime during this timeline. What makes the most sense to me, is that she was orphaned after Cave and Caroline died, making all of Glados’s comments about being adopted and an orphan true.  Her adoptive family may very well be in cryostasis.  Another quick point (although I forget the source), I heard that in the Lab Rat comics, a file about Chell is found and it says “DO NOT TEST.”  Could it be because she is the sole heir to Aperture Science?  Just a thought.

• 1943 - Aperture Fixtures founded by this time, Cave Johnson wins two awards for selling shower curtains
• 1945 - Cave Johnson buys salt mine in Michigan, uses it to build Aperture Innovators
• 1947 - Aperture Science given award for best new science company, transition from shower curtains to science around this time
• 1949 - Aperture rated as #2 best science company(possibly behind Black Mesa)
• 1952 - Aperture awarded U.S. DoD contractor of the year runner up award(likely behind Black Mesa), Earliest dated test chamber
• 1953 - First Alpha Section Enrichment Sphere test built, oldest known use of repulsion gel in testing, first known use of primitive Aperture portal based gun

• 1976-1977 - Borealis is built in this time frame (can be assumed since the ships that the Borealis were based were made in this time span)and that the Dry dock is located in the 70’s section of Aperture. Blueprints are signed by GlaDoS in her Pre-AI state. Borealis vanishes afterwards.
• 1978 - Last Beta sphere test built
• 1980-1983 - Chell most likely born around this time.
• 1982 - Pump station Gamma Built, First and last Gamma sphere test built, first known use of Conversion Gel for testing
• 1982-1986 - Cave Johnson suffers poisoning from moon rocks and dies sometime between these dates, leaves Aperture to Caroline, Old Aperture sealed.
• 1986-200X - Modern Aperture Science facility built, work on the GENETIC LIFEFORM part of Glados begins and Caroline is integrated into Glados, due to hostility the AI has to be shut down frequently.
• 1990-1995 - Aperture’s BYDTWD end in unspecified disaster. BYDTWD part of labs abandoned.
• Several days before May 16 200X - Glados fitted with morality core to prevent hostility, Aperture hosts its Bring-Your-Daughter-To-Work-Day, Glados used BYDTWD as a way to get around her core, murders lab staff, and assumes control of facility.
• May 16 200x - The Black Mesa Incident Occurs preventing any sort of rescue of Aperture Employees
• 200X-202X - Portal storms ravage Earth, shortly after the BMI the Combine conquer earth in the 7 hour war, Events of Portal 1 shortly after 7 hour war
• 202x - Events of Half Life 2 and its episodes
• Sometime After Portal 1 - Events of Portal 2, Announcer at beginning gives the total suspension time as 99999 days = 273.78 years however it is also broken so its number may be wrong
